Rimutaka Prison – Unit 1 & 2

Rimutaka Prison is NZ’s largest prison, holding over 1000 prisoners and employing over 650 staff. The Unit 1 & Unit 2 development project consists of 2 x new prison units, each consisting of 60 x new double-bunked containerized prison cells and other spaces for prisonoers and staff such as laundry rooms and offices.

Our Solutions

Willoughby Fire Solutions designed 2 x Sprinkler systems, 1 Hydrant System, and an analogue addressable Fire alarm system throughout both of the prison units. Institutional equipment was also included as part of our 3D fire sprinkler design and a standard department of corrections requirement.
