Old tauranga Post Office
The Old Tauranga Post Office is one of Tauranga’s oldest buildings, with original Edwardian Baroque construction completed in 1906. It was designed to house Government departments, including a courtroom, lands office and customs office. It’s distinctive architecture and clock tower make this significant as perhaps the last extant post office building remaining intact for this style that was once common throughout New Zealand.
The renovation works to the heritage building was to convert the building into a boutique hotel and restaurant, providing a heritage style experience.
Our Solutions
Willoughby Fire Solutions was asked to take on the challenge of having to come up with a solution of designing a 3D fire sprinkler system into an existing heritage building. This was not an easy task, but Willoughby Fire was up for the challenge. Balancing sprinkler head / pipework placement with building compliance and heritage rules ensured that a solution was not only found, but one that could be installed with minimal impact aesthetically.
